EMA Discusses Upcoming Budget

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Emergency Management Commission discussed their upcoming budget this past week.

Emergency Management Director Jamey Robinson said that they would be looking at a 1.88% increase for the fiscal year 2020-2021.

The levy would still decrease by 1 penny due to the increase in assessed land value.

Increased insurance costs are one factor in the increased budget. It’s estimated that costs will increase up to $3000 per individual depending upon the plan for a total of $35,000.

The proposed budget for Emergency Management would then be $1,130,638.11 for the fiscal year 2020-2021.

The board also reviewed and approved the claims.

The next meeting time yet to be determined.
