Eddyville Competes At Dennis Anderson Relays

Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont

Eddyville, Iowa – Due to track repairs at Davis County, EBF hosted the Dennis Anderson Relays this week.

Gladys Genskow, EBF Girls Coach said, “Our Girls got 3rd at this meet and I couldn’t be more proud of their efforts.  With only 13 girls competing, we can’t fill all the events.  Tonight all of the girls contributed in a strong way to score 96 points.  Kathryn Gutch and Sara Loving had personal bests in the Discus tonight. Kathryn also took first in the shot put.  Briana Ver Steegh placed 1st in the 10 Hurdles and also anchored the winning shuttle tonight as well.  The distance med. had a 1st place finish with all 4 legs running well.  Overall we bettered our times in most events.  Progression in this weather we have had has been frustrating, but we try our best to improve each time we get out on the track or inside the gym.  We have a busy week with competing again at home on Thursday and at Oskaloosa on Saturday.  Great Job to all our girls. ”

EBF Boys Coach Tarah Alexander commented on the teams opening night. “Tonight wasn’t much of a scoring night for us, it was more of seeing where we are and what we need to work on. With this being the first meet of the season I am happy with our times. Our distance med did get disqualified for going out of our lane but we finished 3rd in that race. We have things to improve on but I told the boys we are standing good because we have room to improve rather than coming out in our first meet, running our fastest time and not touching that time rest of the season. I am satisfied with how tonight went, I have to admit I was pretty nervous but the boys made me proud and it’s only going to get better from here on out.”
