Dutch vault into women’s soccer regional poll

PELLA – A stellar 3-0 week for the Central college women’s soccer team propelled it into the Untied Soccer coaches Region IX rankings Tuesday, controlling the No. 8 slot.

Central started last week with a 2-0 road win at Westminster College (Mo.) Wednesday before winning a pair of home games over the weekend. The Dutch beat the University of Wisconsin – River Falls 2-1 on Saturday and Illinois College 3-0 Sunday.

Central (7-2) is one of three American Rivers programs included. Loras College sits No. 1 and Simpson College is No. 4.

The Dutch will test their regional standing Wednesday with a non-conference match at the No. 5 team, the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Central also hosts No. 4 Simpson on Saturday.
