OSKALOOSA –Carolyn Dale of Oskaloosa was recently named “Volunteer of the Year” for Mahaska Hospice, a service of Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa.

Dale received this honor at a Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, hosted by the Hospice & Palliative Care Association of Iowa on Sept. 13 in Urbandale. She has been volunteering with Mahaska Hospice since 2004.

According to Lisa McNulty, MHP Volunteer Coordinator for Mahaska Hospice, Dale has not only visited numerous patients, but she also volunteers in the hospice office and at the MHP Hospice Serenity House on a regular basis. “Whether she is answering the phones or visiting patients in their homes, we know we can count on Carolyn to always be a professional, courteous, and dependable volunteer.

“Many of our patients comment that they are happy to see her and are anxious for her to come for another visit. Carolyn is a very busy retired person who is thoroughly enjoying her retirement, while at the same time giving back to her community with MHP Hospice and other organizations. She is a caring friend to Mahaska Hospice as well as too many individuals in our community. We are very lucky to have her and appreciate all of her valuable time that she shares with us.”
