Cornell College Tops Grinnell In Four Set Match
In a showcase of perseverance and tactical prowess, the Cornell College women’s volleyball team emerged victorious over Grinnell in a gripping four-set match at the Darby Gym on November 1st, 2023. The win marked a pivotal moment in their season, pushing their record to an impressive 19-6 overall and solidifying their conference lead at 7-0.
Cornell College’s offense was a collaborative effort, with Kiana Manson delivering a standout performance, hammering down 15 kills with a .282 hitting percentage. Clare Green’s command over the game was evident as she racked up 39 assists, guiding the team’s offensive flow with precision. Grace Marti also made significant contributions with 14 kills and a .162 hitting percentage, asserting her presence on the court.
On the defensive end, Ella Becker proved to be a formidable force, notching an incredible 27 digs and ensuring Grinnell’s attackers were met with resistance. The defensive solidity was further bolstered by Carly Puffer, who put up a total of 5 block assists, adding a .030 hitting percentage to her defensive stats.
