Construction At MHP Is Progressing

Structural Steel is going up and crews are making steady progress on MHP's newest expansion Monday morning
Once complete, the new wing will house Surgical Services on the main level and the Birthing Center and Inpatient Services on the 2nd level. The new facility will host new heating and cooling units for the entire campus and will boast all private patient rooms, larger birthing suites and will increase capacity for surgeries and improve patient flows and privacy.
The addition is located on the northeast corner of the MHP campus and will connect to the current Medical Specialty Center, located at 410 North 12th Street. “It’s very exciting to see all the activity on the building site, especially knowing how this new facility will help us transform healthcare delivery at MHP,” said MHP CEO Jay Christensen.
Scheduled to open in the fall of 2013, the facility will feature larger, private patient rooms that will allow for additional patient care amenities, promote patient safety and help MHP with its ultimate goal to facilitate better clinical outcomes for patients.
“We are incorporating technology and innovation into the delivery of healthcare in Mahaska County and providing an environment that enhances the quality of work life for staff and physicians,” Christensen explained. “It is important that we continue making healthcare personal for our patients and staff.
“We already have exceptional providers, nurses and staff making healthcare personal for patients every day at MHP,” Christensen said. “The building project will bring our facilities up to the highest standards in patient care and so once complete, we’ll have the full package in healthcare delivery right here in Mahaska County.”
