During the month of March the chapel theme for the 4th grade class at Oskaloosa Christian School was “Heroes Save the Day.” At the end of the chapel, 4th graders challenged the school to be heroes for a day and do some form of community service. On March 29th chapel groups, ranging from K-8th grade students, went out into the Mahaska community and became heroes by doing community service acts. Oskaloosa Christian School teachers, Laura Van Donselaar and Renee Van Kooten, joined their groups together to help clean the Marje addition of the Lacey Recreation Trail. Many hands make light work with 32 kids and 3 adults. The group picked up trash along the path and took turns sweeping debris off the trail. Mahaska Community Recreation Foundation appreciates volunteers like you!
