Oskaloosa–Zachary Chegwidden (So., Essex, England, Business Management) and Elise Warne (Jr., Melbourne, Australia, Exercise Science) both went low to snatch Heart of America Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week awards Monday.
Chegwidden garnered the fifth award of his career (third this year), while Warne’s laurel is her first of the campaign and fourth overall.
Chegwidden shot three-under 141 (69-72) at the William Woods Invitational to tie for fifth out of 56 golfers. The sophomore currently owns a 71.9 stroke average over eight rounds. He has managed three rounds in the 60s (low of 66) and an additional four more in the 70s. He has placed in the top five in all four tournaments in which he has competed.
The honor is the third of the season for William Penn.
Warne, who helped the women’s program to its fourth weekly award win of the season, won the 57-player Statesmen Classic with a one-over 72. Her efforts, which were the best by five strokes, guided WPU to the team title.
The junior is currently sporting an 80.1 stroke average (low of 72) over eight rounds. She has managed three rounds in the 70s and has finished in the top 10 on four occasions.
