Central’s Schulenberg wins softball All-America honors

EAU CLAIRE, WIS.— Central College sophomore pitcher Mallory Schulenberg of Kansas City, Mo. (St. Pius X HS) has been named to the NFCA Division III All-America softball squad.

Schulenberg was a third-team honoree. She received the award Thursday evening at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet on the campus of the University of Wis.-Eau Claire. Central is among eight teams competing in the championship finals, which begin Friday. The Dutch (32-8) open the double-elimination tourney at 6:30 p.m. against Montclair State (N.J.).

Schulenberg, who was earlier named a first-team all-Iowa Conference honoree, has a 16-2 record with a 1.27 earned run average. She posted a 4-0 mark at the eight-team NCAA Division III Pella Regional lsat weekend, allowing just two earned runs, and was named the tournament’s outstanding player. She’s walked 28 batters and struck out 75 in 110.2 innings. Schulenberg was named the conference pitcher of the week three times. She has an overall collegiate record of 26-2.
