PELLA—Central College placed two players on the D3football.com All-West Region team Tuesday.

Kicker Jon Alberts (junior, Huntley, Ill.) was a second-team pick while strong safety Jordy Borman (junior, Eagan, Minn.) was a third-team selection as a special teams performer.

Alberts hit 45 of 46 extra point attempts this season, including his last 35. He converted eight of nine field goals, three of which were longer than 40 yards. His 55-yarder at Wartburg College Oct. 20 is the longest in Division III this year and tied for the fourth-longest in all NCAA divisions. On 64 kickoffs, Alberts averaged 53.6 yards with 12 touchbacks.

A two-time first-team all-conference selection, Alberts was named the American Rivers Conference special teams player of the week twice this fall.

Monday Alberts was named one of 10 finalists for the Fred Mitchell Award for kickers from all non-Division I FBS schools.

Borman is tied for sixth in Division III with six interceptions for 23 yards. He also blocked a punt against Luther College Sept. 10 and returned it for a 45-yard touchdown. A first-team all-conference honoree, Borman was tabbed as the league’s defensive player of the week Sept. 2 and as the D3football.com special teams player of the week Sept. 17.

Central posted an 8-2 record with a 6-2 league mark, tying for second place.
