Oskaloosa Boys Track and Field Team Sets New Records Amidst Strong Winds at Carlisle

On a gusty Tuesday evening, the Oskaloosa Boys track and field team performed exceptionally at the Carlisle Wildcat Relays, notching seven new personal records (PRs) and two season-best marks despite challenging wind conditions.

Coach Sterner praised the team’s resilience and growth: “We continue to show growth as 7 new PR bests were recorded on the night, and also 2 new season best event marks.”

Among the highlights were standout performances from Jalin Woodard, who achieved a new season best in the 100 meters with a time of 11.94 seconds, and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team composed of Tyler Edgar, Trace Rupprecht, Parker Jordan, and Sam Nelson, who collectively clocked in at 1:15.93.

The evening was a triumph for several athletes who achieved new lifetime PRs. Tre Bullock, Jaden DeRonde, Tyler Edgar, Reid Luck, Sam Nelson, Kolby Williams, and Jalin Woodard all surpassed their previous bests.

Coach Sterner expressed optimism about the upcoming competitions, noting, “Hopefully the wind dies down and the weather takes a positive turn as we head into the last few meets before our district meet in 2 weeks.” The team is set to compete next at the Tulip Time Relays in Pella, hosted this year by Pella Christian due to construction at the Pella track complex.

With the district meet just around the corner, Coach Sterner and the team eagerly anticipate more opportunities to achieve personal bests. “The coaches are looking forward to celebrating more PR bests in the days to come,” added Sterner.
