Central College hosts winter baseball clinic
PELLA— The Central College baseball team is hosting a winter clinic Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 28-29, to benefit players of all ages in every aspect of the game.
The clinic is held in two sessions each day. Day one covers defensive skills and pitching while day two offers hitting instruction and baserunning. The morning session is 9 a.m. to noon for ages 7-12 and the afternoon session is 1-4 p.m. for ages 13-18.
Registration can be found online at www.central.edu/athletics/camps. The cost is $60 for both days or $40 for one day and includes a camp t-shirt. Deadline for registration is Dec. 22.
On day one participants will learn drills for year-round practice, proper fielding, throwing and pitching mechanics and strength and conditioning programs for pitchers.
Day two offers hitting instruction and baserunning. Material covered includes hitting drills for year-round practice, instruction of proper hitting mechanics, bunting and baserunning instruction and speed and strengthening programs for hitters.
Participants will need a glove and hat and must wear tennis or gym shoes. Catchers must provide their own equipment.
The camp will be held at H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse. The facility houses four indoor batting cages and pitching mounds.
