Carol was born on July 22, 1955, at St. Francis Hospital in Grinnell to Dr. John C. and Catherine Kelly DeMeulenaere. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1974. She attended various colleges following her high school graduation.

In 1984, she was married to Don Herrold at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grinnell. The couple lived in Davenport, Des Moines and Broomfield, Colorado. She worked in the Accounting Department of Younkers for several years. She returned to Grinnell and worked in the Grinnell School System and for Fareway Food Store.

Carol was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. She enjoyed family vacations to Estes Park, Colorado and socializing with friends.

She is survived by her parents, Dr. John and Cathy DeMeulenaere of Grinnell; four sisters, Diane (Warren) Weber of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Katie (Scot) Rainbolt of Papillion, Nebraska, Ann (David Cassorla) DeMeulenaere of Chicago, Illinois and Joan (Doug) Stolberg of Pelham, New York; two brothers, John Kelly DeMeulenaere of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and David DeMeulenaere of Aspen, Colorado; and ten nieces and nephews.

Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to Grinnell Regional Hospice.
