Brett DeBruin Benefit Supper sees large crowd
The Oskaloosa high school FFA sponsored a benefit supper for Brett DeBruin this evening at the high school cafeteria. FFA sponsor Mike Striegel explained more what the event was all about “It’s a benefit we have for Brett DeBruin. Brett was a former student here about 4 years ago and also a FFA member who the Osky Herald just featured last week an article dealing with cancer. So it’s a benefit to try to offset some of the costs that he has with insurance.”
Dan Branderhorst commented on the food at the event and how much of it was donated. “We had quite a few donations. All the deserts are from all different ladies. Fareway was a big donor. They also contacted their suppliers Wonderbread and Fritolay who donated the buns and chips. The hog was donated, as was the Potato Salad and Coleslaw. So everything was pretty well donated.”
Striegel and Branderhorst both seemed to be pleased with the turnout of the event. “Well we are only into it 15 minutes and we are very pleased. We’re starting to wonder if we have enough (food).” said Branderhorst. Striegel also seemed happy with the turnout “Oh its fantastic! Yes very good.”
Mike Striegel reported that nearly 470 people were in attendance for the benefit supper.
