Breon And Hoekstra Selected To 2018 All-State Music Festival

Carson Breon (chorus) and Nia Hoekstra (band) of Pella Christian High School have attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as members of the 2018 All-State Music Festival.

Carson is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Tim and Shannon Breon of Oskaloosa, IA, and Nia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ryan and Kim Hoekstra of Pella, IA.

The 2018 Festival will celebrate the 72nd anniversary of this prestigious event. District auditions for the 276-piece All-State Band, 206-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Storm Lake, Hampton, Independence, Atlantic, Indianola, and Washington. Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensembles. Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 P.M. in Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames, on Saturday evening, November 17, 2018. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast. Please check the IPTV website ( for the exact dates and times. This program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.

Tickets are $22.00 each, plus fees, and all seats are reserved. There are two methods tickets may be obtained for the Iowa All-State Festival Concert:

Method 1 – ISU Athletics Ticket Office – At window (on sale October 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM).

Method 2 – Ticketmaster – Orders may be placed by phone (1-800-745-3000), online (, or at any Iowa Ticketmaster outlet (on sale October 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM).
