Boswell and staff visit Osky

Leonard Boswell visiting Oskaloosa residents

Congressman Leonard Boswell (D) made a campaign stop today in Oskaloosa. No big speech, no hoopla, just a simple walk in town to meet local residents. I am sure a knock on the door by a Congressman is very surprising. Folks smiled, shook hands and chatted.

Iowa State Representative Eric Palmer (D) accompanied Boswell, greeting people and discussing topics with those around as well.

The group of volunteers and staff broke up and started working neighborhoods. With around 60 days for voters to decide on whom they intend to vote for in this tough political season, it’s not surprising to see everyone starting early and working extra hard.

Boswell, running for his 8th term is facing one of his toughest re-election campaigns. He is facing State Senator Brad Zaun (R) for the 3rd House District where some political polls show Boswell trailing Zaun by some 10 percent.

This could very well be the last election of the current district as the census of 2010 will help shape the next election by possibly having district’s reformed by both political parties.

State Representative Eric Palmer is facing off against Guy Vander Linden (R) a retired Marine Corp General for House District 75.
