Bonatto Chosen as NAIA Offensive POW
Oskaloosa–Eduardo Bonatto (Sr., Rio Grande, Brazil, Business Management) was not only considered the best player in the league last week, but the voters at the national level felt the same way as he was named the NAIA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday.
Bonatto’s accolade comes after he led William Penn to huge overtime road wins over Grand View and #9 Baker.
The senior tallied three goals versus the Vikings to post his first-ever hat trick. In the win, Bonatto also assisted on another score. He then managed one more goal in the upset over the Wildcats. He accomplished all of his scoring on just five shot attempts.
For the year, Bonatto leads the Statesmen with seven goals and also has four assists to his credit for a team-best 18 points. He is perfect in three penalty-kick attempts and has two game-winning goals.
It marks the second time (in as many years) in program history that WPU has won a national weekly honor. Austin Munoz (Sr., Harrisville, Utah, Sports Management) claimed the other award last fall.
