Blanch Kanselaar-White, 94, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born November 22, 1923, near Rose Hill, the daughter of August and Clara Siebert Rose.

Blanch attended country school in Mahaska County.

Early on Blanch worked at the old Continental Overall Factory in Oskaloosa.

On March 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edward Kanselaar at Lancaster, Missouri; Ed died on March 24, 1990.

Blanch worked for many years at Pella Rolscreen, she retired from there in 1986. In retirement she worked as a hostess at Donna’s Café in Oskaloosa. Her favorite job in retirement was caring for her grandchildren.

On October 15, 2005, she was united in marriage to Francis C. White; Francis died February 28, 2018.

Blanch was a member of Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and trips to the casino. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge.

Her family includes her children: Mildred Haines, Donna (& Don) Nord, Sue Flander, John (& Meleia) Kanselaar, all of Oskaloosa, Maryann Torres of Florida, and Tom (& Pat) Kriz of Iowa City, Iowa; two step daughters: Marjorie VerSteegh of Eddyville and Mary Weber of Garwin, Iowa; a son in law, Dennis Cook of Guttenberg; a daughter in law, Jean Steele of Oskaloosa; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Ed and Francis, Blanch was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janis Cook; two sons, Clifford and Danny Kanselaar; a granddaughter, Teresa Jean Kanselaar; three sisters: Venita Lundy, Maggie McDonough, and Irene Watson; two brothers: Ernie Rose and Bill Rose; and a son in law, Clifford Haines.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Mike Sereg of Central Reformed Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery near Leighton. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family present will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 until service time at 11:00.
Memorials may be made to V.F.W. Post 2237 in Oskaloosa.
