Barry Edwin Moore, 76, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born Monday, March 16, 1942, in Mason City, the son of Robert and Mildred Maupin Moore.
Barry graduated from Charles City High School with the Class of 1960. Following school, Barry joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country with honor during the Vietnam War and during the Cold War.
He was united in marriage to Lydia Carreon, to this union two children were born, Michelle and Jon. On November 18, 1995, Barry was united in marriage to Betty Grimm in Oskaloosa.
Barry and Betty owned and operated Delightful Embroidery in Oskaloosa for over 23 years.
Barry enjoyed riding his motorcycle, listening to music and all things related to computer technology.
Barry is survived by his wife, Betty Moore of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Michelle (& Jim) Helmers of Des Moines; a son, Jon Moore of Des Moines; three stepdaughters: Cristy (& Greg) McIntire of Johnston, Chris (& Rick) Carter of Colorado Springs, CO. and Teresa Ulin (& John Nash) of North Liberty; four grandchildren: Eyon Moore of Searsboro and Rose Carter of Colorado Springs, CO. and Mia and Ian McIntire of Johnston.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in New Sharon on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 10 A.M. with Pastor David Hall officiating.
A private burial will be held at Community Church Cemetery near Millersburg.
As was Barry’s wish, his body has been cremated.
A visitation will be held from 9 A.M. until service time at 10 A.M. in the First Christian Church in New Sharon on Saturday, April 28, 2018 and the family will be present during that time to greet friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the First Christian Church in New Sharon.
