Myers Earns NAIA Pitcher of the Week Laurel

Oskaloosa–For the first time in program history, a William Penn baseball player earned a weekly national award as Alec Myers (Jr., Casper, Wyo., Biology) was tabbed as NAIA Pitcher of the Week Tuesday.

Myers captured the accolade after posting a perfect game against Lincoln (Ill.) last Saturday, the first perfect game for WPU since joining the NAIA in 2001-2002.

In the 8-0 win, the junior threw a perfect game, needing just 55 pitchers to retire all 21 Lynx who stepped into the box, an average of just 2.6 pitches per at-bat. He struck out six in the victory.

For the year, Myers is 2-0 with a 4.50 Earned Run Average in 12 innings of work. He has struck out 11 and walked five, while allowing opponents to hit .196 against him.
