Statesmen Struggle at McKendree Baker Challenge

Fairview Heights, Ill.–The William Penn men’s bowling team failed to get any rhythm going over the weekend as it competed at the McKendree Baker Challenge Saturday and Sunday.
WPU was 14th out of 21 teams with 7,356 pins in 40 Baker games, while host McKendree led qualifying with 8,008 pins. Third-seeded Wichita State (Kan.) claimed the bracket crown.
Varsity team members included David Decker (Jr.., Peyton, Colo., Physical Education), Aleksander Kostric (So., Koper, Slovenia, Sports Management), Rok Kostric (So., Koper, Slovenia, Sports Management), Curtis Majka (Sr., Elgin, Ill., Mechanical Engineering), Logan Mason (Sr., Knoxville, Iowa, Business Management), Jayson Miner (Fr., Silvis, Ill., Physical Education), and Nick Walker (Sr., Zeeland, Mich., Business Management).
A second Statesmen squad was also in action as the reserve crew was 10th out of 16 teams with 6,631 pins. Team members included Austin Czerwinski (Fr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Applied Computer Science), Josh Fane (Jr., Brownsville, Wis., Business Management and Accounting), Dawson Knight (Fr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Secondary Education), Albert Liggins (Fr., Ravanel, S.C.), and Alex Mitterer (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Psychology and Biology).
Next Up: William Penn is off two weeks before traveling to Indianapolis, Ind. on February 16-17 to compete in the Hoosier Classic.
