Half Dozen Receive Recognition

Oskaloosa–A total of six William Penn football players were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes Friday.
Cooper Gosch (Sr., Reeds Spring, Mo., Education), who owned a 3.66 Grade Point Average, led the half dozen as he garnered his second career S-A laurel. Justin Hagans (Jr., Birmingham, Iowa, Secondary Education) topped the remaining five first-time recipients with a 3.76 GPA, while Clive Manuao (Jr., Norwalk, Calif., General Accounting) was right behind him at 3.75.
Alex Crehan (Jr., Troy, Ill., Business Management), at 3.67, Haydn Stender (Jr., Brigham City, Utah, Psychology), at 3.51, and Charles Nelson (Jr., Jefferson City, Mo., Biology and Education), at 3.50, were also honored by the NAIA.
A total of 392 football players from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
