Oskaloosa–Austin Munoz (Jr., Harrisville, Utah, Sports Management) has taken full advantage of his opportunity to be in the starting lineup, posting a strong week that helped him be named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Monday.

Munoz won his first award after leading the Statesmen to a pair of wins last week.

WPU defeated Mount Mercy 2-1 in double overtime last Wednesday; in the win, the junior goalkeeper tallied seven saves, including two in overtime.

On Saturday, Munoz stopped three attempts as the navy and gold upset #16 Benedictine 2-1.

For the year, the junior is 3-1 with a 1.34 Goals Against Average. He has tallied 22 saves in 334 minutes of action.

The award is the second for WPU this year.
