Elizabeth “Liz” Larson, age 70, of Albia, passed away on June 21, 2018, under the care of HCI Hospice at her home in Albia, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 30, 1948, to John and Mary (Auger) Beaver in Desmarais, Alberta, Canada.

Liz grew up and graduated from RF Staples High School in West Lock, Alberta, Canada with the Class of 1966.

Liz was united in marriage to David Larson on June 19, 1970, in Vancouver B.C., Canada. To this union 2 children were born, Lisa and Dan. Liz and Dave shared 48 years of marriage prior to her passing.

Liz has been a Mary Kay consultant since 1989. Liz and Dave settled down on the century farm in Albia and Liz was an active farm wife and huge supporter of all of her family’s activities. She learned how to drive the truck and trailer and hauled the kids by herself to many cattle shows and rodeos and the kids have many exciting stories of their travels. She was very involved in the day-to-day operation of the family farm and was an AI technician for 20 plus years on the farm.

She was a member of the Monroe County Cattlemen and was inducted into the Monroe County Cattlemen’s Hall of Fame in 2014. She and Dave were Polled Hereford Association members. In 1983, they were named Monroe County Beef Producer of the Year and they were inducted into the Monroe County Farm Bureau Hall of Fame in 2005.

Liz was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Albia for many years before becoming a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ottumwa. Liz enjoyed her job and being around people. She was very outgoing and never knew a stranger. She enjoyed traveling and photography. She loved attending activities her grandchildren were involved in. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, David Larson of Albia; a daughter, Lisa (& Mark) Keeton of Albia; 3 grandchildren: Deanna and Aaron Keeton and Dax Larson; and 3 siblings: Claire (& Doug) Clarke, Leonard Beaver, and Rita Large.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; a son, Dan; and 3 brothers: Lawrence, Gabriel and John Beaver.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the Tharp Funeral Home with Liz’s family present from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2018, at the First Lutheran Church in Ottumwa with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Memorials have been established to the Mary Kay Foundation for cancer research or to the First Lutheran Church in Ottumwa.
