School Board Takes Initial Steps In Finding A New Superintendent
Oskaloosa, Iowa – This past week, The Independence School District announced they had hired Russ Reiter to be their new superintendent of schools.
Reiter notified the Oskaloosa School Board of his new position at the end of January, submitting a letter to the school board of his intentions to leave for Independence, Iowa School District.
The Oskaloosa School Board gave notice that Reiter’s contract will end on June 30th, 2018, and he will begin his duties with the Independence district on July 1, 2018.
Board member Carl Drost says the intention of the board is to help Reiter’s transition into his role at Independence to be successful.
The Oskaloosa School Board then got to initiating what steps need to be taken to begin the search for a new superintendent for the district.
The board decided to form a subcommittee to look for and then recommend a consultant to help the board navigate the search to fill Reiter’s position.
The board hopes to find a suitable candidate for the upcoming school year but agreed that if one isn’t available, they would be open to an interim superintendent.
The school board will decide on that consultant during Tuesday’s meeting and potentially award a contract for those services.
