Bank Iowa Hosts Massive Easter Egg Hunt

For over 15 years, kids in the Oskaloosa area have enjoyed the annual Easter Egg hunt hosted by Bank Iowa.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – It’s an Oskaloosa tradition that goes back more than 15 years. Bank Iowa and area businesses get together to provide an egg hunt, featuring more than 4,000 eggs, and some pretty cool prizes.

Besides the businesses, it’s an opportunity for 4-H kids to help out, and eventually become leaders themselves.

Emmit Boender used to be one of the young people out hunting the eggs, but now he helped his 4-H group stuff the eggs, and helped to keep those wishing to sneak an early egg off of the field at bay until it was time. But, when the mayhem starts after the countdown, Boender said he was going to try and help any kid who needed help.

Boender had a nice blister on the side of his thumb from the effort of stuffing the eggs, but he said it’s all worth the effort.

Vicki Jones, with Bank Iowa, explained that each egg contained candy and money. Some eggs had a slip of paper in them correlating to a bigger prize that could be picked up at the bank right after the hunt. One of those prizes was a brand new bicycle.

“It’s so nice to be able to do something good and make kids happy,” said Jones.

Jones thanked the Masters 4-H club for their assistance. “We couldn’t do this without them.”
