Mahaska Health Partnership Offers Scholarships
MAHASKA COUNTY – Applications for college scholarships from Mahaska Health Partnership are available to high school seniors pursuing a career in a health-related field. The deadline for submitting applications is April 10.
Three students chosen by the MHP Board of Trustees will be awarded $500 scholarships. Applicants must be attending North Mahaska, Eddyville-Blakesburg or Oskaloosa schools. They must also be accepted to an accredited school leading to a health-related career.
According to MHP Board of Trustees Vice Chair Amy McGriff of New Sharon, the scholarships provided by the board are a way for MHP to both give back to our community and to foster the growth of healthcare as a profession. “The MHP Board of Trustees recognizes a great need for the training of new healthcare professionals in our service area,” McGriff said.
“We also want to continue recruiting capable, competent local employees and believe these annual scholarships to high schools in our primary service area are a great investment in the communities we serve.”
While the final decision of scholarship winners is not based solely on financial need, it may be a determining factor if candidates are equal in other qualifications. Letters of recommendation must accompany the application and personal interviews may be requested for further clarification.
Applications are available at mahaskahealth.org, through local schools or can be picked up at MHP’s Registration lobbies (entrance #1 and entrance #4). For more information on the MHP Scholarship program, please contact your high school guidance counselor.
