Two Qualifications Lead Boma to POW Win

William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Jamal Boma (Sr., Des Moines, Iowa, Business Management and Physical Education) proved over the weekend that he is not just an incredible cross country runner, but is also quite adept on the track as he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Monday.

Boma won his first track honor (also has four in cross country) by qualifying for nationals in two events at the Eastern Illinois Friday Night Special.

The senior, who was a cross country All-American, won both races with ‘B’ standard times. He crossed the line in the 3,000-meter run in 8:42.61 and recorded a time of 15:14.04 in the 5,000-meter run.

Boma will enter nationals ranked 17th in the 5K and 20th in the 3K.

The award is WPU’s fifth of the indoor season.
