Marjorie Burns, 94 of Montezuma passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, February 22, 2017 at the Montezuma Specialty Care. Marjorie Mae Burns, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Irons) Ferrell, was born on June 30, 1944 in Albion, Michigan.

Marjorie graduated from Three Rivers High School in Michigan in 1940. Marjorie attended nursing training to become a LPN, a career she enjoyed for 20 years. In the sixties, she joined the United States Naval Reserve and served eight years at Great Naval Base in Chicago. After her children were grown, Marjorie worked for the Dupont Company as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement.

Following retirement, Marjorie moved to Florida where she enjoyed many years of sunshine and friends. In 2012, she moved to Montezuma, Iowa.

Marjorie was a member of the Montezuma Country Club and the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church in Montezuma.

Marjorie enjoyed reading, especially the daily paper and books on Amish history. She became an avid domino player and enjoyed her afternoon games at the Montezuma Country Club. Traveling was a favorite thing for Marjorie. She visited all over the U.S. but especially enjoyed trips through New England seeing the covered bridges, which fascinated her. Marjorie especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were precious to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Walter Ferrell and a sister-in-law, Leona Ferrell.

Marjorie is survived her children: Jim (& Marcia) Kivi of Montezuma and Ann Rodgers of Henderson, NV; her grandchildren: Steve (& Anne) Kivi, Sara (& Andy) Erselius, Steve (& Melissa) Davis and Roger (& Catherine) Davis; eight great grandchildren; and a nephew, Tom Ferrell.

A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church in Montezuma with Pastor George Salnave officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
As was her wish, her body has been cremated.
Burial will be held at a later date in Three Rivers, Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Specialty Care to be used for residents activities.

The family thanks the caring staff at the Montezuma Specialty Care for their loving care.
