Donna D. Flander, 85, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, February 17, 2017, at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa. She was born Monday, December 14, 1931, in Tracy, the daughter of Theodore and Helen Van Alst Johnson.

On June 23, 1948, Donna was united in marriage to Robert Flander in Oskaloosa and he died October 28, 2009.

Donna was a homemaker all her life. She was an excellent baker and cook and loved playing cards, dancing and was an avid reader.

Donna is survived by her three daughters: Jacque line (& Michael) McCall of Branson, Missouri, JoAnn Flander of Antlers, Oklahoma and Linda (& Mitch) Messerli of New Sharon; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a grandson, Ryan Chapman; and two brothers: Ted Johnson and Duane “Runt” Johnson.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend John Spiegel officiating.
Burial will be in Beacon Cemetery near Beacon.
Visitation will begin Monday, February 20, 2017, after 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oskaloosa.
