Pella–A trio of Statesmen grapplers tallied three wins each as the Statesmen wrestling team ended its regular season at the Central Last Chance Invitational Saturday.

In a rather small event, William Penn put just over a handful of wrestlers on the mat. Heavyweight Max Lewis paced the crew by placing second with a 3-1 record. He won one match via technical fall, but eventually fell 8-7 to Justin Hennessy of Nebraska Wesleyan in the championship match.

133-pounder Gilberto Rodriguez took third with a 3-1 mark, including two technical falls and one fall, while Jordan Rivera (So., Tampa, Fla., Sociology) was also third at 141 pounds. Rivera finished 3-1 with two pins.

157-pounder Dennis Simmons (Fr., Tucson, Ariz., Sociology) claimed a fall as well.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Des Moines next Saturday to compete in the NAIA Central Qualifying Tournament.
