Central’s Taylor bags academic honor for second time

PELLA — For the second year in a row, Central College basketball player Colby Taylor (senior, Creston) was named to the Division III Academic All-District Eight men’s basketball team presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve at the varsity level and achieve a 3.30 or better cumulative grade point average (4.00 scale).

Taylor is an actuarial science major with a 3.41 GPA. A first team all-Iowa Conference selection in 2015-16, Taylor is Central’s leading scorer with 19.4 points per game. He also leads the team with 7.8 rebounds per game and is also averaging 2.50 assists per game. He leads the conference in scoring and is third in rebounds.

Three other Iowa Conference players joined Taylor on the five-man all-district team.
