Grinnell swimmers named MWC Performers of the Week

GRINNELL, Iowa –Grinnell College’s Ana Karin Kozjek ’17 has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.

This marks the fifth time this season a Pioneer has won the award.

Kozjek, from Ljubljana, Slovenia (Gimnazija Bezigrad), was four-time champ in leading the Pioneers at their own Grinnell Mini-Invitational on Saturday. She dominated the freestyle events, winning the 100-, 200- and 500-yard races in 56.21, 2:02.21 and 5:27.58, respectively.

She also was on the winning 200 freestyle relay team that had a clocking of 1:49.56, and took second in the 100 individual medley with a time of 1:04.01.

Grinnell posted a clean sweep, as Ian Dixon-Anderson ’17 was named the MWC Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.

GRINNELL, Iowa – For the second time this season, Grinnell College’s Ian Dixon-Anderson ’17 has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.

This marks the seventh time this season a Pioneer has won the award.

Dixon-Anderson, from Princeton Junction, N.J. (West Windsor-Plainsboro), showed his versatility at Saturday’s Grinnell Mini-Invite as he won a variety of races. He claimed top honors in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.08, 200 individual medley in 2:02.88 and 1650 freestyle in 16:56.91.

Grinnell posted a clean sweep, as Ana Karin Kozjek ’17 was named the MWC Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.
