MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership has named General Surgeon Timothy Breon, MD, FACS, 2016 MHP MVP (Most Valuable Provider). Dr. Breon was presented the honor on Nov. 29 at the annual Provider Appreciation Dinner, held at The Peppertree in Oskaloosa.

According to MHP CEO Jay Christensen, Dr. Breon is beloved by his patients, is an active participant on the Medical Staff, and is very involved in volunteer efforts in the community and in his church. “Dr. Breon is also one of 10 people in the state to receive the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) Hospital Hero Award in 2016.”

Christensen said that the MVP award is for an outstanding provider who goes above and beyond and helps MHP in accomplishing its healthcare mission. “Choosing just one to honor is never an easy task because we have an exceptional group of healthcare providers.”

Comments from staff supporting Dr. Breon’s award include: He truly is an excellent surgeon; we love his humor; he supports the community with his time and talents; he’s an educator at heart; he puts his patients first and will often pray with them; and, he truly cares and makes healthcare personal every day.

A few of the many patient comments received include:

· Dr. Breon is one of the best doctors I have been to. He takes time with each of his patients, ensuring they understand.

· I cannot say how incredibly impressed I was in Dr. Breon. He was wonderful & had the best way of putting me completely at ease. I had a c-section that was unplanned. I couldn’t be happier that Dr. Breon was the man on call on the day I delivered my son. Thanks Dr. Breon!

“We are so thankful for the wonderful example of a physician champion that Dr. Breon exemplifies throughout MHP,” Christensen stressed. “He was instrumental in our recent purchase of the da Vinci surgical robot; he continues to be a champion for MHP’s efforts to promote Colorectal Cancer Awareness; he serves as a preceptor for medical students and is the medical director for MHP’s MECO (Medical Education Community Orientation) program with the University of Iowa, where students spend six weeks at a rural hospital to experience firsthand the importance of rural medicine.”
