Pella Downs Oskaloosa Varsity On Senior Night

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Pella Dutch volleyball squad took 3 matches against Oskaloosa on Tuesday night.
Oskaloosa Head Coach Jennifer Comfort spoke highly of her seniors, who were honored on senior night.
The Indians took on the Lady Dutch last night in LHC action. The #1 4A ranked Pella won the tough match 16-25, 20-25, 19-25. The Indians played some of their best volleyball of the season! I was happy to see we rose to the occasion of facing our third #1 team of the year. Our serve-receive was great, we served tough to get them out of system and create predictable attack patterns, our defense touched a lot of balls and continued rallies from coverage balls, and our attackers were swinging with confidence. This is how we need to play as we prepare for the post-season. As always, we still have things to work on, but we are now in a position where we can increase the intensity and execution so we are a better team overall.
I feel that we honored the six seniors before the game and they led the team to a respectable showing against a good Pella team. I’m proud of these six girls (Lizzie Parker (mgr), Aubrey Miller, Cara Roquet, Summer Smith, Leah VanMaanen, and Alexis Westercamp) and the work they’ve put into this program to get it where it is today. They’ve bought in and worked hard. It hasn’t been easy, but they’ve stuck with it and raised the expectations every year. We still have a lot of season left and they will be out there leading us to victory!
