Oskaloosa, Iowa – Helping those who make decisions better understand what it takes to keep businesses open and American workers employed is a goal at Clow Valve Company in Oskaloosa.

The company regularly opens its doors to Congressmen, Senators, and candidates for office, as well as other decision makers, in an effort to help keep those individuals better informed, not only about Clow but the needs of employers and the employed.

Mark Willett, Vice President and General Manager at Clow in Oskaloosa, recently hosted Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District Congressman Dave Loebsack on a tour around Clow. “Those are the individuals that have a pretty significant impact on our business,” said Willett.

Willett said that with local municipalities strapped for cash, those needed infrastructure investment dollars more often than not come from the federal government.

Willett added that it’s important that the leaders see what Clow does and the lives the company impacts, “so they can understand how important it is to get some of this funding pushed through”.

Loebsack and Willett spoke about the importance of funding for infrastructure repairs and improvements. Also talked about was the Buy American provision for tax dollars spent on projects, where tax dollars are used. “To be sure we aren’t supplying funding to be utilized by offshore resources,” added Willett.

It would, in theory, be American tax dollars supporting American workers and improving American infrastructure.

“That’s my focus as well, make things in America,” Loebsack said in an interview with Oskaloosa News after the tour.

Loebsack said it’s important to make sure the policies are in place to help facilitate making and using American made products domestically.

Loebsack pointed towards making sure funding is available to the EPA to help communities with sewer system repairs and upgrades.
