Oskaloosa, Iowa – Oskaloosa FFA stepped up to feed a farmer this past week. It seems odd, as farmers feed the world that they might be hungry, but during the hectic harvest season, stopping for lunch can be just one more chore.

The local FFA group fired up the grill and had approximately 200 hamburgers ready to go. The group also provided chips and a bottle of water for the farmers as they arrived to the DFS grain storage facility near the southeast part of Oskaloosa. This was the second year for the program.

Brayden Wald, FFA reporter for Oskaloosa FFA, said the group decided on the ‘Feed A Farmer’ program “since farmers feed us, we figured we could give back to them and feed them today”.

The local FFA chapter bought all the needed supplies for the feed out of funds that come from crops the students raise and sell.

“FFA is an intercurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership.” You can learn more about the Oskaloosa FFA and its many activities by visiting their Facebook page HERE.
