Oskaloosa, Iowa – Fall weather brings a myriad of activities, which makes for busy and often fun-filled weekends for area residents.

The always favorite stops like Autumn Acres located at Stam Greenhouse had to compete with homecoming at William Penn University, where they also celebrated the reopening of their Athletic Hall of Fame inside the Penn Activity Center (PAC).

Three more Penn Alumni were inducted into Penn’s Athletic Hall of Fame. The university held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the new display, which had formerly been hosted at the Penn Gymnasium. Display cases and items are being installed at the new location, and the university continues to seek items of historical value to add to the collection.

Meanwhile, over at the Lacey Complex, several dozen participants took to the recreation trail for the PUSH (Persist Until Something Happens) 5k run and walk.

Another event going on was at the Central Reformed Church. The Trunk and Tailgate Sale drew a very large crowd, who made their way through a parking lot full of vendors selling a variety of items, from seasonal to household.

Andy Baker with Central Reformed was busy handing out coffee on the chilly morning, as one of the largest crowds he has seen at the event passed by him on their way to the next vendor.

Out near Leighton, Tassel Ridge Winery was hosting ‘Vines of Life’. The day was designed as a fundraiser event for a Relay for Life team. Individuals were able to walk the vineyards, either for someone they knew or as support to help bring a cure for cancer.

Once the walk was over, many of the participants enjoyed a wood fired pizza at the winery, and sampled some of the latest wines available from Tassel Ridge.
