Police Accuse Man Of Intent To Deliver Marijuana
Pella, Iowa – According to Pella Police Chief, Robert Bokinski, a traffic stop was initiated late Tuesday evening by the Pella Police Department on a vehicle that was said to be exceeding the speed limit on Highway 163.
When officers arrived at the vehicle, they state they could smell marijuana. There were three individuals in the vehicle at the time of the stop. “When he [officer] searched the vehicle, he found a quantity of marijuana, and it was packaged in such a way, individual packages, indicated it was packaged that way with intent to sell, or attempt to distribute,” says Bokinski.
According to Bokinski, Anderson stated that the drugs were his.
Arrested was Shayne Anderson, 24, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Police say Anderson is from Richmond, Virginia, and declares he’s a student of William Penn University in Oskaloosa.
According to court documents, 34 baggies, with a total of three and a half ounces, were confiscated during the stop.
The other two persons in the vehicle also claim to be students at William Penn University.
Anderson, who is now free on bail, has been charged with intent to deliver marijuana and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. Both are Class D Felonies.
William Penn University President John Ottosson said the following about the accusation, “WPU does not condone or tolerate the use or selling of illegal substances. We have confidence in the legal process and trust that justice will be achieved.”
A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
