The sun is coming up and it is 5:00 am one May Saturday morning. The SHARE Iowa warehouse is in full-swing. Trucks are being loaded with food packages to go out to over 3,000 households. Three people work diligently, making sure that each truck is loaded and ready to make deliveries. Then it happened…that dreaded thought that lay dormant in the back of each one of the worker’s minds…the forklift quits. With several trucks left to load, what seemed to be a routine morning became a grueling under taking. Trucks had to be hand loaded, which not only was a physical nightmare for the workers but also created a delay in the food distribution system for volunteers in several communities.

Fulfilling a non-profit’s mission can be difficult when expensive equipment reaches the end of its life cycle. Several months prior, knowing the condition of the forklift, SHARE approached Hupp Toyotalift in Cedar Rapids enquiring about replacement cost for a used lift. To SHARE’s surprise Hupp Toyotalift not only donated a forklift but also delivered it right to the front door. Just in time for June’s food distribution! Thank you Hupp Toyotalift. It is nice to know that you care about the communities in which you do business.
