The Mahaska County Conservation Board is hosting a “Maple Syruping” program on Saturday, March 7th. The program will be held from 10:00-11:00 am in the conservation center at the Russell Wildlife Area. Participants will learn about the history and techniques of maple syruping. Bring your appetites for fresh maple syrup on ice cream!
This program is taking place of the annual Maple Syrup Festival. Due to the below normal temperatures, the conservation board has not been able to tap trees and make enough maple syrup for the event. The Russell Wildlife Area is located at 2254 – 200th Street, New Sharon, IA which is four miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street. Hope to see you there!
