Narcisse touts agenda, electability as reasons to vote him for Governor

Jonathan Narcisse, candidate for governor, is boasting his agenda for governor. Mr. Narcisse commented on several topics this evening including our state’s infrastructure, term limits, and the Iowa Judicial Process. When asked how he would improve our infrastructure he boasted the idea of using state inmates to do maintenance to free up resources.“When we look at country roads for example inmates outta be doing those, when we talk about building bike and walking trails, inmates outta be doing those.”

Mr. Narcisse also commented on the Iowa Judicial Process and whether or not justices should legislate from the bench. “There is no constitutional authority for a judge to make law.” He also went on to explain his thoughts on the retention of the 3 justices up for retention this year. “We need to vote them off. Actually we need to vote off all seven, but we need to vote off the first three this year.”

Mr. Narcisse also commented on term limits at the governor’s office and explained his plan for term limits across the board in the state of Iowa. “The term of office for our governor should look like the term limitation for the president of the united states.” He also commented on term limits for state and local elected officials.  “State Senators  should be limited to 2 terms, unless they should vacate an office, in which they would serve a maximum of 10 years. State representatives should be limited to 4 terms, unless they should serve a vacated office in which they should serve a maximum of 9 years. County, Municipal, and School District elected officials should be also be limited to terms unless they fill a vacated term of office in which they should serve a maximum of 10 years. Where there are six year terms, they should be limited to four year terms such as county hospital trustees.”
