Inmate Temporarily Escapes Jailer

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Jail stated that inmate Martell Lamar Tillman-Hollinshed, 18, “attempted to assault Jailer J.R. Draughn with a fire extinguisher while trying to flee from custody.”

The incident happened at approximately 2:40 pm.

A short chase ensued but he was apprehended in a neighboring yard “where after a scuffle, Jailer Draughn, with the assistance of Doctor Spahr and her staff, restrained Tillman-Hollinshed until Police Officers and Deputies arrived for further assistance.”

During this scuffle Jailer Draughn and Dr. Spahr were assaulted.

Jailer Draughn and inmate Tillman-Hollinshed were both treated and released from Mahaska Health Partnership.

Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by MHP Emergency Services, Doctor Karen Spahr and her staff as well as the Oskaloosa Police Department.
