Mahaska County Board of Supervisors 6-2-2014

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors approved the Heartland Insurance renewal on Monday. Currently, Mahaska County property values increased by 5 million dollars over the past year.

Mahaska County currently employs 106 individuals. Currently, the county has seen a small increase in the cost for workers compensation, but is rated higher than many other counties in the state.

The roof of the courthouse continues to be under discussion, with the Board approving a roof evaluation. They will pay Brown Engineering Company from Des Moines $3,850 for its advice on the roof. The Supervisors wanted an outside opinion on the best options for moving forward with the roof.

The Board also approved its 28E agreement with County Life Health Care and the lease of the building. Everything in the agreements are the same as the previous year. The county is still charged $66.32 per day per occupied bed.

Also approved was the fireworks display for the New Sharon Spring Festival on June 14th, 2014.

Supervisor Greg Gordy was not in attendance.
