OACDG Celebrates Accomplishments of 2013-2014

Oskaloosa, Iowa – It’s a yearly tradition, stretching over 130 years. The Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development Group held its annual banquet Thursday night at the Peppertree and over 100 area business members and guests were in attendance.

The social hour began at 5:30 pm with members greeting each other, sharing stories and renewing friendships, followed by a desert auction and then dinner.

The emcee for the evening was Jeff Akers. OACDG Board President Marsha Riordan talked about the accomplishments of the organization during the past year. Awards were then handed out to local businesses and individuals.

This years award winners are:

Diplomat Awards
1. Old Oak Award – Cablevey Conveyors
2. Acorn Award – Work Systems Rehab
3. Golden Dipper, Runner Up – Cindy Reed-Shull
4. Golden Dipper, Pat McCulley

Commerce Awards
1. Retail Business of the Year – True Value
2. Service Business of The Year – TD&T CPA’s and Advisors
3. Industry of the Year – Oskaloosa Foods
4. Business Person of the Year – John Stearns
5. Community Improvement Award – Mahaska Health Partnership
6. Educator of the Year – Jason Alons
7. Citizen of the Year – Tom Jimenez
8. Special Award – Gateway Church of the Nazarene

Main Street Awards
1. Chuck Russell Historic Preservation Award – Nelson Pioneer Farm
2. Main Street Volunteer of the Year – Cathy Stahl
3. Up and Comer – Natalie Spray
