Supervisors Canvas Beacon Special Election

Mahaska County Board of Supervisors met in special session on Monday

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The special election that residents of Beacon voted on, allowing Mahaska Rural Water a franchise agreement to run and maintain both the water and sewer systems of the city, was canvassed by the Supervisors on Monday morning in special session.

The final tally came out to be 43 in favor and 24 against Question A. Question B had a split vote with a vote of 44 in favor and 23 against. The measure passed and the Supervisors signed off on the paperwork,  certifying the special election.

An appeals process change for First Administrators was approved, where the Supervisors allowed them to do the first appeal process helping to expedite the process for the county. First Administrators handles the County’s health care. The effective date for the change was August 1, 2012.

The budgeted amount to Mahaska Health Partnership includes $78,000 for public health services and $55,000 for home aid care services. The amounts remain unchanged from previous years.
