Penn Prepares To Prove Itself
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The weather has been cooler, but the practice sessions have been making the players’ muscles burn. The coaching staff has adjusted practices in order to help keep the players fresh.
William Penn Head Football Coach Todd Hafner had his squad on the Penn practice field once again on Thursday, building the team and working towards being a title contender.
Hafner says that after a slow start, practices have continued to get better, “I think our kids have figured out it’s time to go.”
One area that Hafner says will be much improved is the kicking game.
Penn made the preseason rankings, only slightly down from previous years. Hafner said that, “we’re ok.” He says that once the season gets underway, the ranking will fluctuate, as is normally the case. Penn closed the season out last year with a 9 and 2 record.
The team will hold some scrimmages around 9:30 am on Saturday, and will face Central in a scrimmage on Saturday the 18th in Pella. Penn has its regular season start on August 25th against Iowa Wesleyan at 6 pm in Mount Pleasant.
