Health and Wellness Authority to Give Business Presentation
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska Wellness Coalition, Oskaloosa School District, and the Oskaloosa Area Chamber & Development Group are co-sponsoring a free presentation for the business community. Ed Thomas, Iowa Department of Education Health & Physical Education Consultant and Associate Professor of Health & Movement Science at Graceland University, will offer a training session to business leaders that will teach the techniques to advocate health and wellness in the workplace. Business leaders will gain effective information on making simple, affordable, changes from how we place our desks or computers to how physical activity relates to a positive working environment.
“Ed Thomas has provided invaluable information to the Oskaloosa School District recently,” said Jennifer Peterson, Mahaska Wellness Coalition member and Elementary Gym Teacher. “When he offered to provide training for businesses, we jumped at the chance. He has information that we all need.”
By taking part in this initiative, owners, managers and supervisors learn to redirect efforts toward a healthier work place. Interested community members are also welcome. The presentation will be held at the Oskaloosa High School on March 9 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Chamber will provide box lunches for $5. Reservations are required for the $5 box lunch by March 8. For more information, to register for the training or reserve your lunch contact the Chamber at 641-672-2591 or email oskycofc@oacdg.org.
