Knoxville Wrestlers Have Mixed Results, Jones Lost Opening Match

The Iowa High School State Wrestling tournament is underway at Well’s Fargo Arena in Des Moines opening this morning in Class 3A. Here are some local results from KIIC.

113 – Jay Fresh of Knoxville – Pinned in 1:12 by Fredy Stroker of Bettendorf. Stroker has only one loss on the year and advances to 41-1 Update: Fresh won his wrestle-back by forfeit by his opponent. Fresh will wrestle again Friday in the consolation bracket and can finish as high as 3rd place in this weight class.
145 – Lane Colwell of Knoxville loses to Brayton Taylor in a 10-0 major decision. Colewell is now 38-5 on the year and will also wrestleback later today. Update Colwell wins his wrestle-back 7-3 against Peyton Wagner of Cedar Rapids Prarie. Colewell is wrestling for a 3rd place finish in the consolation bracket.
152 – Tyler Chatterton of Knoxville beats Gayge Samuelson of Decorah 10-4, Samuelson was ranked 10th in the state.
