Lady Statesmen Lose Exhibition Game

Oskaloosa- Falling behind quickly, the Lady Statesmen lose in an exhibition game to Wayne State, 91-52.

The Lady Statesmen started off slow as Wayne State jumped out to a 10 point lead part way through the first half, and William Penn never regained as they went into halftime with a score of 45-24.

Leading the way for the Lady Statesmen was Orielle Thomas (Fr., Waynesville, Mo., Waynesville HS) with 21 points and eight rebounds.

In the second half, William Penn struggled offensively as they shot 29% (10-34) from the field, and overall they shot 33% from the field and had 32 rebounds.

Katie Golomski (Fr., Milwaukee, Wis., Pius Xi HS) added 12 points, while Megan Evangelista (So., Chanhassen, Minn., Chaska HS) added 11 points. Sam Abens (So., Knoxville, Southwest Minnesota State) also contributed a game high of seven assists.

Next: Lady Statesmen travel to Omaha, Neb. Tuesday to face College of Saint Mary at 7 p.m.
